Steven Hansen, M.D., F.A.C.S attended the University of Texas and received his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Science Center. He completed his internship and residency at University Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah and received advanced training in ocular pathology and intraocular lens research while completing his fellowship at the University of Utah.
Dr. Hansen has served as an investigator for the implantable contact lens (ICL) as well as the Nidek EC-5000 excimer laser.
Currently, Dr. Hansen serves as the medical director of Shepherd Eye Surgicenter. His expertise in surgery includes the following procedures: advanced cataract surgery using high tech IOLs (intraocular lenses) which can correct astigmatism; implantation of multifocal IOLs to correct presbyopia; and corneal transplants for patients whose vision is distorted because their corneas are diseased, injured or abnormally shaped.
Dr. Hansen is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He joined the Shepherd Eye Center in 1992, bringing his expertise in small incision cataract surgery to the practice.
